As a child I remember reading and hearing stories about the civil war, and was both confused and terrified as to how something like that could happen in what I was raised to believe was the greatest country on God’s green earth. I, like so many from my generation, watched movies like “Roots” and “North and the South” and could not imagine something so horrific could have been true, knowing the stories were fiction but the premise was true.
It was not until recently, in the past 4 years or so, that I became keenly aware of how such horrific things could come to be. I never paid any mind to politics up until the early 2000s, 9/11/2001 to be exact. At that time I still wanted nothing to do with politics and felt like those who paid attention to such things were wasting their time on something they could do nothing about. Even serving in the Navy in the late 90’s and saluting a picture of Bill Clinton neither impressed nor intrigued me, no matter what the headlines were in any paper. He was the boss and I paid no mind to anything that was said or what he was doing, because “it didn’t effect me either way”.
After 9/11, I began to pay more attention to the news, and the more I paid attention, the more I began to realize the lack of objectivity in what was being reported. As the years progressed, so grew the hatred and hostility toward the president of the time, George W. Bush. I remember thinking to myself at the time, how could people be so hateful to someone working so hard to protect us from those that brought evil to our shores? The attacks were not all, or even mostly policy based, but so many were personal and then they became more emboldened and went after his supporters. It was then and only then that I began to realize there was no way I could ever identify with those who claimed to be “liberal” and “progressive”. To me they were just hateful.
Then came the Obama years. I was disturbed by the growth of government under the Bush administration but the breakneck pace at which Obama began placing new restrictions on everything was just plain painful. His constant straw-man arguments and the “this is not who we are”, & condescending speeches were near suicide inducing blather. His war on cops strategy and world apology tour nearly drove me to the brink of madness, but I knew his reign of pain upon our great country would only last so long. Under Obama, we saw the inception of occupy wall street anarchists that are now “ANTIFA”, Black Lives Matter, a war on cops that is now solidly embedded within local government officials, increased illegal immigration, increased regulations upon businesses, increased terrorism abroad, more expensive and less accessible healthcare for so many as well as the slowest economic recovery in American history. And we waited, a long and painful 8 years but we waited.
In the last 24 hours I have heard some of inadequate intelligence refer to what happened yesterday as an attempted “coup”. I will first say this before I say my piece about that. Every group of people, and I don’t care what group or demographic you are referring to, has their bad apples. To say otherwise is either being willfully ignorant or just plain stupid. The same people who are saying that those demonstrating in the capitol yesterday, when the reality is that an unbelievably small percentage are responsible for the mayhem, are the same ones who said nothing of mass carnage caused by the multiple riots over the summer and the private property and livelihoods destroyed as a result. They are also the same ones who claim a virus with a 99.98% survival rate is worth sacrificing everyone’s liberty so math isn’t exactly on their side.
I will be the first to tell you that in the beginning I was not a Donald Trump fan, and as for the way he’s conducted himself in many respects I still am not. As a president, and what he was able to accomplish despite the outright hostile media and all out assault on his presidency by the establishment politicians, mostly Democrat but bipartisan in many ways, was nothing short of impressive. To those of inadequate intelligence calling what happened yesterday an attempted “coup”, the attempted “coup” began 4 years ago and those with any intellectual honesty would acknowledge that. The thing is, it’s no longer attempted, it’s now come to fruition. It is my opinion and my prediction that the next 4 years will mark the greatest infringement upon individual liberty and destruction of personal prosperity that the vast majority of living Americans have ever seen.
The outright hatred I have seen for Donald J. Trump is unlike anything I have ever seen in my life. Trump Derangement Syndrome is very real and I believe very dangerous. I began this post by talking about the horror I perceived as a child reading and hearing stories about the civil war. The idea that brothers would battle brothers and fellow countrymen would fight to the death because of opposing ideals is terrifying. We are not far off from this nightmare my friends. The hatred I see displayed daily by people I once thought were either intelligent or at least somewhat rational is appalling. The media and big tech are complicit in the biggest con job and hate scheme in human history and so many are flat out falling for this deception. Hate and fear will keep us apart and those with a vested interest in keeping us divided will continue to perpetuate it as long as we allow it. I pray for our country and I pray that those who are falling for this wake up before it’s too late.
If you think this could make a difference, please share. If you think I’m wrong, tell me why and maybe you’ll change my mind. Unlike some, I’m willing to listen to opposing views…
